How to recycle Walking Aids

  • All used walking aids should be returned to NHS drop-off points listed. They will be inspected to ensure they are safe for reuse. They will then be cleaned and passed onto a new user.

  • All walking aids that are unsafe for reuse will be recycled. Damaged and broken items will be accepted for recycling.

Good to know

Walking aids, such as walking sticks, frames, rollators and crutches, can be safely refurbished and reused repeatedly. Boosting return and reuse will improve access for patients, reduce carbon emissions and save money. Over the next 3 years, the NHS could reduce its carbon emissions by 7.4kt, equivalent to 281,397 car trips from London to Bristol! Find out more about the benefits of recycling walking aids here.
